“Exercise: The Silver String Relaxation Exercise”
Friday, May 4, 2007 (Private/Phone)
Participants: Mary (Michael) and Jens (Ranatad)
ELIAS: Good evening!
JENS: Bonjour, mon ami!
ELIAS: (Laughs) And what shall we discuss, my friend?
JENS: First of all, a few short things and then… Yeah. The first thing: I get many, many spam emails, and I have the impression that especially the names on these spam emails are future focuses.
ELIAS: (Pause) Some, yes.
JENS: Okay. (Laughs) Then, I asked you years ago about the essence name of my younger daughter, Ophioe, and then the session was transcribed and there came out another name, Opheel. But I still feel that Ophioe is her name, not Opheel. Can you spell it again for me?
ELIAS: The spelling that I offered in that session that appears in that transcription is correct.
JENS: Opheel? O-P-H-double E-L?
ELIAS: Yes.
JENS: Not O-P-H-I-O-E?
ELIAS: No.
JENS: Oh. Okay. Normally, I… Well, not normally. (Laughs) Since the experience with my call, the five questions in my call, I’m more following my impressions and trust. I used to trust them many times, but the thing that surprises me [is] I have a computer, I have a clear impression, and then it came out completely different. This is not normal for me. Can you explain shortly what’s happened at this point?
ELIAS: I will acknowledge to you that you have been quite adept and accurate in your impressions previously, and I have acknowledged that previously also and have offered you considerable validation in your success with your impressions.
I will express that in relative recent time framework, you have been somewhat confusing yourself and you have been somewhat scattered. And in that, your energy has somewhat changed, in which you are questioning yourself more and doubting yourself more, and that creates a different energy. And in that, the information that you offer to yourself becomes confused and is influenced by that doubting of yourself. And therefore, the impressions that are not being filtered through that doubting energy are so underlying that you are not assimilating those. You are not—
JENS: I understand it. Basically it is a reflection of my doubt, because it was related to money, and in this area I’m quite doubtful. (Laughs) Okay. (Elias laughs) It was a very clear impression—that’s why I was astonished about the outcome.
ELIAS: I am understanding. This is also a clear example of the expressions of energy and how affecting energy is in every direction in every area of what you do. Even your communications to yourself can be distorted in relation to the energy that you are projecting.
JENS: Mm-hm. Okay. Thank you.
ELIAS: You are welcome.
JENS: Do you have any useful information, any clues about my new orientation in my job? Because I’m very excited, and I feel the ease which I felt several years ago with the house, with the car, and so it’s very exciting and very, very….Yeah. I enjoy it very much. And there are still some questions about location, for example. It has to do with the models or the name of a project and many other things. But any clues from you to this new adventure?
ELIAS: What are your concerns? You are expressing that you are excited in this new direction, but what are your concerns?
JENS: Two concerns. One is that I overlook something important; for example, a major distortion in my communication, in my impressions and my… what else? That is one part. And the other part is….You know, I express the type of energy you described during the last group session, the not-enough energy, quite intense and quite strongly. For example, I have never enough time and never enough choice with money. I try to attract this, but it’s somewhat tricky. (Laughs)
ELIAS: In this, as to the first point, clarify that concern. Offer an example.
JENS: For example, I’m so excited about the new challenge I feel and the new direction that I [inaudible] my graphics shop, and there I get the money from. This is a typical thing of not enough time, not enough time to do both and a typical example of either/or. I always go in that direction. (Laughs)
ELIAS: Ah. First of all, I will express to you to not overwhelm yourself. You may allow yourself to move in increments.
JENS: Mm-hm. Okay.
ELIAS: And in that, you can choose in each time framework how much time you want to incorporate with each action. But when you are engaging any particular direction, allow yourself to be present in what you are doing—not to merely be doing, but also projecting and thinking in relation to the next step or what you should be accomplishing or what you must do. These are distractions.
And what occurs when you are projecting in this manner is that you are diverting your time. This is one reason that individuals feel that they do not incorporate enough time. For time—or the perception of time—can slip by very quickly if you are not actually paying attention to what you are doing and if you are not being present. For in that, what occurs is your attention is so divided that whatever you are doing requires more time to accomplish it, for you are not focused. And in that, your productivity slows, for you are devoting too much attention to projecting rather than focusing and allowing yourself to accomplish what you are doing in the moment.
Let me offer you an example. An individual, hypothetically, may receive a bill. And subsequent to receiving that bill, they may place it upon a table and walk past it several times. They may even leave it upon the table for several days and continue to walk past it.
Now; in doing so, they are also thinking about the bill. They may incorporate an accumulation of hours of thinking about the bill, whereas the actual addressing to the bill would incorporate merely minutes. Now they have incorporated slowing their own process for perhaps days, when that process could have been accomplished within minutes.
This is an example of how you incorporate time in a manner which slows your production of what you are actually doing, for your attention is strongly held in projecting and anticipating rather than doing. And in that, you create the situation in which you feel that you do not incorporate enough time. It is not a matter that you actually do not incorporate enough time, but more so that you are creating a perception that there is not enough time, for you are not incorporating or engaging time effectively.
Therefore, it is important to allow yourself to be focused in what you are doing and to stop the thinking, thinking, thinking in projecting futurely in anticipation or planning what your next action will be or should be, but rather to actually allow yourself to engage your process, be aware of it, be aware that all that you do is interconnected. Therefore, pay attention to your energy and how it is being expressed in whatever you are doing.
In this, it is not a matter of either/or; it is merely a matter of allowing yourself to become more focused and less scattered. (Pause)
How are your children?
JENS: (Chuckles) They are fine. (Elias laughs) Yeah. Lakeisha is reflecting much unpleasant [inaudible], and I try to justify it because she is just before starting school, and this is normally an interesting time and a challenging time. But nevertheless I know she is reflecting me, and (sighs) I often notice [inaudible] sometimes and I watch what aspect she is reflecting. And then there comes a feeling of being not present enough, and I don’t have enough time to evaluate or to… You know, it’s (chuckles) kind of challenging, and I’m many times annoyed. We discussed annoyance as a communication in our last session, and it’s still very strong.
ELIAS: I am aware. But in this, my friend, let me express an encouragement to you. I am aware, within your energy, the reason you become overwhelmed is that you are viewing many different directions simultaneously and you are expressing somewhat of a harshness with yourself in generating the perception that you fall short in every area. It is quite beneficial and helpful if you allow yourself to relax and to focus temporarily in one direction at a time.
Allow yourself to practice for a temporary time framework with merely paying attention to whatever you are actually engaging in the moment—whether it be in your employment, whether it be in engaging the actions of new discoveries, whether it be engaging in conversation with your partner, whether it be engaging your children. Whatever you are doing in the moment, even if you are engaging a meal, allow yourself to genuinely be present and to be paying attention to what you are actually doing, and allow yourself to enjoy what you are doing.
If you are consuming a meal, allow yourself to actually taste it rather than merely eating it. Allow yourself, when you are engaging your children, to actually see them, not to merely be in physical proximity with them. (Jens chuckles) Allow yourself to actually see their small bodies, their beautiful faces, rather than their screaming voices. (Both laugh)
JENS: Ten years ago, I was much more relaxed, but now… It’s strange.
ELIAS: This is for the reason that you are generating many directions simultaneously and attempting to juggle them all but not actually genuinely engaging any of them in being present with them. And that creates a strong scatteredness, and it lends energy to projecting. And when you are projecting, that complicates whatever you are doing. It slows your movement in whatever you are doing, and it complicates it.
Therefore, to be more relaxed, the key is to simplify. And the manner in which you simplify is to be paying attention, not to be so incredibly serious, to allow yourself to recognize that many of the expressions that you become irritated with or that you worry about are (pause) shadows. They are not actual manifestations; they are shadows of the manifestations. They are quite real, for you generate them to be quite real. Worrying is quite a real action. Being annoyed is quite a real action and a real feeling, but it is a matter of evaluating whether what you are worrying about or annoyed with is actually important or not.
JENS: Mm-hm.
ELIAS: That is the key in which I addressed within that group interaction, recognizing what you are generating in importance. For as I expressed, what is important to you, or what BECOMES important to you, you will pay attention to and you will perpetuate. Therefore, it is significant to notice when you are generating importance in relation to some action or some expression that you do not like.
JENS: Mm-hm. Okay.
The last question—our time is over, I think. I had pain last year in my neck and in my back, the left side basically, and this was related to think and think and think. (Laughs, and Elias chuckles) And now it disappeared, almost. So, I guess I made steps in the right direction.
ELIAS: Congratulations.
JENS: But now I have an increasing pain in my right Achilles tendon or the calf, the lower part of the calf, and it’s increasing. I have this for years, but now I pay more attention to it. (Laughs). The first time I thought it is related to protection, but I’m not sure about it, because I recognize it quite strongly in situations where I am not aware that I express some protection-related thing.
ELIAS: Ah.
JENS: So, I’m…
ELIAS: I would express to you, my friend, this is not associated with protection. It IS associated with pressure. It is associated with how you pressure yourself.
JENS: Even if I relax or I avoid some of… or I lay on the couch watching TV, suddenly I feel a strong pain in my Achilles tendon, and as I expressed, I have some pressure in this moment? I’m not aware of it.
ELIAS: I am understanding, but let me express to you, when you notice pressure is when some event is occurring in which the expression of pressure escalates to a point that it becomes obvious. But that is not to say that you are not continuously generating this expression of pressure within you, for that has become very familiar. Throughout what you identify as years, you have expressed this pressure with yourself underlyingly to an extent that it has become constant. It is merely that you do not necessarily notice it in certain moments or in certain time frameworks, for you may not necessarily be engaging in action in which it becomes obvious.
But this type of pressure is very similar to an individual that expresses a continuous energy of anxiety. They may not actually FEEL an anxiety in some moments, for they are distracting themself, but that is not to say that that energy is not continuing to be present and being expressed. It is a general, underlying expression of energy that involves every direction in your life. It is the general, overall expression that there are concerns in every area.
But this is not to say that in certain moments you are thinking of those—you are not. You may in certain moments be distracting yourself to allow yourself not to be thinking, but the energy continues to be present. This is the reason that it continues to return in your thoughts, for it IS continuously present.
In this, I would suggest that you allow yourself to genuinely, perhaps once each day, incorporate a brief time framework alone in which you allow yourself to genuinely relax your body consciousness, to allow yourself in that relaxation to move energy downward through your body and release it through your feet. This type of relaxation will be helpful to you also in recognizing more how you hold this energy of pressure with yourself and how that is related to the harshness that you express with yourself. In this relaxation, genuinely focus your attention upon every area of your body, and allow yourself to visualize a silver string moving downward, collecting the energy from all of the pressure points within your body, collecting the energy of all the tension, and moving downward through your body and being released through your feet into the ground. When you do this exercise, incorporate a sitting position, a comfortable sitting position but not lying down, and place your feet flat upon your floor. In this manner, you can manipulate the energy in this silver string and release it and allow it to be absorbed into your ground.
JENS: Okay.
ELIAS: I would suggest that you allow yourself to incorporate this exercise each day for a time framework, which may help to release that pressure, which may also help you to be more focused and be more present in what you are engaging throughout your day, rather than generating as much projections.
JENS: Okay. I will do my best. You are so very serious today.
ELIAS: (Laughs) For YOU are so very serious. (Both laugh)
JENS: I will try to be much less serious then. (Both laugh) I have found out again how to appreciate myself.
ELIAS: Aha! Very well.
JENS: I will tell myself how influencing my energy expression is.
ELIAS: Quite so.
JENS: And of generating of your thoughts. (Laughs) I found the answers really, really interesting.
ELIAS: (Laughs) But perhaps now you may be creating new adventures in excitement and fun, and allow yourself to regain your playfulness, which you are quite accomplished at. (Laughs)
JENS: It’s strange that I was so very forgetful. I found the session and anticipated that it’s very easy for me to be forgetful in my appreciation and my acknowledgments, and exactly that happened.
ELIAS: (Laughs) But you offered yourself a reminder. (Both laugh)
JENS: Okay. Thank you very much for the session, and for your energy, for you are always in my mind, correct? And for your encouragement to do this session. For a long time I tried to do many things by myself without help from outside, and perhaps that’s not the best way. (Both laugh)
ELIAS: I continue to be very encouraging of you, my dear friend. (Chuckles) And I incorporate the trust that you are and will be accomplishing. (Chuckles)
JENS: Okay. Thank you very much.
ELIAS: I express to you great lovingness and anticipation of our meeting quite soon.
JENS: Quite soon. (Both chuckle)
ELIAS: To you, in dear friendship and in tremendous fondness, au revoir.
JENS: Au revoir.
(Elias departs after 39 minutes)
