Exercise: Empower Yourself

Topics:

“Feeling Spacey”
“Exercise: Empower Yourself”

Friday, March 24, 2006 (Private/Phone)

Participants: Mary (Michael) and Liana (Ponset)

(Elias’ arrival time unknown)

ELIAS: Good day!

LIANA: Hi Elias! Nice to talk to you again.

ELIAS: (Chuckles) And you also.

LIANA: My first question involves a change in my attention. I’ve noticed that I feel very spacey, kind of disorganized. I’ve made some mistakes at work. And yet I’ve noticed that my energy field seems to be a little bit more porous, in other words, I seem to be having better relationships with people. It’s almost like I’m in a bubble. Those things that may have bothered me before don’t bother me any more. I seem to feel a little bit like I’m floating. Could you talk about that a bit?

ELIAS: I am understanding. This is actually not unusual. In allowing yourself more openness, you also allow yourself to receive more energies from other individuals and even from collective energies. That initially can be somewhat slightly disorienting, for it is somewhat unfamiliar. It allows you to generate expressions in what you view to be a positive manner and allows you to more effectively connect with other individuals and even yourself; but in the unfamiliarity of it, it can also be somewhat distracting, incorporating many other energies that are not entirely familiar to you. In that distraction, it can temporarily create a slight disorientation, which that can easily create a scatteredness. It is a matter of becoming accustomed to the other energies and how you are interacting, and allowing yourself to relax and not react to it but merely to be noticing and allow yourself to focus.

Choose points, in any particular moment, in which you generate a focus in your attention. It matters not what you are focusing upon, but just as a practice to be readjusting and refocusing yourself, and therefore centering yourself again.

LIANA: It sounds a little bit like a transition.

ELIAS: In a manner of speaking, a type of transition.

LIANA: Can you talk a little bit more about that?

ELIAS: Allowing yourself to move into a wider awareness and expanding, and in that expansion, you are incorporating the allowance of more of other energies.

In this, it may be helpful to you temporarily to engage a visualization once within each day. In the visualization, do not think; experience. Allow yourself to experience your outer senses in the visualization, for that shall focus your attention in a manner which is less distracting, for you shall not be incorporating the allowance of scatteredness in the incorporation of thinking.

LIANA: Now, I’ve also noticed that on our unit at work there’s been a lot of violent patients and a lot very unsettled energy, and I’ve experienced this as stressful. I would like to understand why there are so many violent, agitated patients and why I’m experiencing this as stress.

ELIAS: (Pause) Why there are violent patients: for you are drawing that to yourself to address to it. Why it is stressful is that you have not yet allowed yourself to discover how you can generate an action of cooperation with yourself to not be reacting to the behaviors of the other individuals.

LIANA: What is it that I’ve been wanting to address about the violent patients?

ELIAS: How you can generate a cooperation with yourself so that you will not be reacting.

LIANA: How do I generate that cooperation? Just simply by the… I guess, just focusing on it? It’s very unfamiliar to me.

ELIAS: I am understanding, and this is the reason that you are generating this presentment. For you are widening your awareness, and your desire is to be generating more of an awareness and understanding of yourself, in that you may more effectively direct yourself – and more efficiently – in expressions that are unfamiliar. In your expansion, you are moving into unfamiliar territory, so to speak, which is another expansion.

In this, how you discover your own cooperation in allowing yourself to not react to other individual’s choices and behaviors is to being noticing and recognizing your initial responses and allowing yourself to evaluate what is motivating those responses. What within you motivates the response that you are experiencing?

LIANA: Well, the first thing that I would say is that I have to admit I feel a little bit fearful. Well, actually, probably more than a little.

ELIAS: (Laughs) I am understanding.

LIANA: That feels like it’s motivated by a concern for my physical body continuing to stay alive.

ELIAS: And also control, for it taps into this fear that you cannot control other individuals, and therefore, there is a potential that other individuals can generate some action that will be hurtful or damaging to you. Therefore, you subsequently move into the role of victim or potential victim. In this, what you are presenting to yourself is the opportunity to move in another direction and empower yourself, overriding the fear and allowing yourself in that empowerment to direct you, not waiting for the other individual to express the direction first and you following.

LIANA: Oh, I see. Is this something that’s just going to evolve? Or is there an exercise or a focus of attention that would assist me to move through this?

ELIAS: (Pause) What would you express to myself as your identification of the most powerful creature upon your planet?

LIANA: The most powerful creature on my planet – I never even thought about this at all! (Elias laughs) I guess it would depend on what kind of power you were asking about, physical power…

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: …emotional power?

ELIAS: No. The most physically powerful creature…

LIANA: Weirdly, I think it’s an ant, because the ant can carry ten times its body weight or something.

ELIAS: Very well.

LIANA: Although they don’t seem very impressive, because they’re so little.

ELIAS: But regardless of their size, your association with them is that they are extremely powerful.

LIANA: I guess in a way it is.

ELIAS: Very well.

LIANA: I mean, I don’t think of it... They’re not like an elephant or anything. They’re not big, impressive.

ELIAS: I am understanding. Size matters not. It is the association that matters, and in this, you generate an association that this small creature incorporates tremendous strength.

LIANA: I think it does.

ELIAS: And therefore, it is very powerful. In this, I shall suggest that you incorporate an exercise in two manners, associated with the ant. One…

LIANA: Am I fooling myself? Am I truly associating an ant with power, or is that just some kind of an intellectual tweak?

ELIAS: No. That is a genuine association and a valid association.

Now; in this, my suggestion is that you incorporate another visualization. It is not necessary that you generate much time with it. It can be a brief visualization. But in that visualization, incorporate your empathic sense and allow yourself to merge with the being of an ant. In that, allow yourself, through your empathic sense, to experience the strength and the power of that ant. In addition to this visualization, I shall express to you, in moments in which you begin to notice yourself feeling fear or anxiousness, recall that empathic experience of the ant.

What color is your ant?

LIANA: Black.

ELIAS: Black. In the recall of the experience of being the ant, feel – not see – feel your body consciousness becoming black. As you feel your body consciousness becoming black, allow yourself to feel that power and that strength in the muscles of the ant as you, that no power of opposition is stronger than you, for you are strong enough to incorporate five times your mass. Therefore, any size of any approaching opposition cannot harm you, for you incorporate the power to engage five times your mass. For, the little black ant has grown into a considerable size. (Laughs)

LIANA: I’ll say. Don’t ants have something to do with humor and lightness?

ELIAS: That can be associated with this creature.

LIANA: Because they dig up the earth and add lightness and the air to it.

ELIAS: Correct, and they also incorporate tremendous diligence and determination.

LIANA: That helps. That would be explaining, probably, why I feel so tired, because of the changes I’m going through?

ELIAS: Partially, and also partially expressing an excess of energy in opposition to yourself, in questioning your abilities and questioning your own power.

LIANA: That helps to know all that.

I’ve also noticed these what I consider sort of emotionally violent experiences, but I somehow think it’s related to the first question I asked. There’ve been these things that happened: my friend, Matt, that has cancer; the accident, the car accident I was in; and this friend, Barry. They all seem to be related to life-death trauma feelings. Could you tie that together for me, how I’m creating that, why I’m drawing that to me?

ELIAS: Examples of extremes and the emphasis in the necessity for balance.

LIANA: So these people, including myself, are out of balance?

ELIAS: Yes. But what is the most significant is that you are presenting this to you as imagery for yourself.

LIANA: Yes. In what way am I out of balance? I know there’s a lot to choose from, but… (Elias laughs) ... what’s predominant at this time?

ELIAS: What do you view?

LIANA: Well, to tell you the truth, I think it’s the opposition to myself. It’s the biggest problem.

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: The self-doubt...

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: ...and the unfamiliarness, although I did set in motion, as a decision at some point inside myself, to become at ease with the unfamiliar. Yet, as I start moving into it, it’s so unfamiliar to me that I begin to doubt my choice...

ELIAS: I am understanding.

LIANA: ...and in an extreme way. So even though at another level I trust my choice, that’s where the opposition, I guess, comes. So is there an exercise to – I love asking for all these exercises – (Elias laughs) to help me get through this transition period, so I’m not opposing myself? Will the ant exercise be enough?

ELIAS: That shall be quite helpful, and also I may suggest that you allow yourself to intentionally relax. Several times within your day, stop and allow yourself to breathe. Pay attention to your breathing. Allow yourself to relax your solar plexus. Allow yourself to feel your physical body consciousness and intentionally relax that.

LIANA: Would this be along the lines of when I was dealing with the intention to relax my solar plexus, my throat?

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: Or it’s something additional?

ELIAS: But in this, allow yourself to relax your entire body consciousness, and breathe. That is important.

LIANA: The other thing that seems to happen when I go into opposition with myself is that I become doubtful about my health. I begin to fear for my health, and think I’m creating a disease or something. So, I guess I want to just check in and make sure that’s not happening.

ELIAS: You are not; you are not. Not in this present time framework.

LIANA: This is a little, tiny question, but I don’t have any sort of sexually transmitted disease, do I?

ELIAS: No.

LIANA: And there’s no danger of me getting that, correct?

ELIAS: (Pause) As you do not create it.

LIANA: Well, I don’t have the intention of creating it, so…

The other thing is that with my friend, Steve – you know that’s another area where I have a lot of opposition – I feel part of my tension in continuing in some sort of relationship with him is to learn, actually, from him, because he is very unfamiliar to me in his orientation and a lot of other things, and learn how to be around someone who is very different and learn how to have my own boundaries and my own self, be more directing, like you have talked about.

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: And so you would agree, that’s what that relationship is turning into?

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: Okay, good, because that’s brought a whole lot of opposition with myself as well.

ELIAS: And I shall also express to you, each time you notice that you are generating an opposing expression with yourself, stop and acknowledge some appreciation of yourself In any capacity; it matters not. But generate a genuine appreciation of yourself in those moments, for that shall interrupt the opposing energy.

LIANA: I guess a part of me figures if I can be self-directing around an intermediate, I’m set; I’m good. (Elias laughs) And yet I also feel a lot of fear. What is that fear about?

ELIAS: In relation to what?

LIANA: In relation to continuing to have some sort of relationship with Steve. I have a lot of fear that comes up, in not believing that I can maintain my own directedness around it, that somehow I’m not going to be able to do it, I guess.

ELIAS: You can. It is a matter of paying attention and recognizing the moment in which you are following and not directing, and in those moments, allowing yourself to stop, pause and refocus.

LIANA: Now, I had an interesting little experiment, an experiment going on with creating different possibilities as far as what his relationship with this woman Tanya was. I thought it was interesting that several different possibilities of what the relationship was seemed to exist. Can you comment on that?

ELIAS: And what is your point in this direction?

LIANA: Well, I’m trying to understand how the influence of my perception intervened or interacted with other people and what was around me to create these different scenarios, and if there is actually a real, actual scenario that did occur, or if they’re all equal.

ELIAS: None of which is the point. The point is, what is motivating you to generate the presentment?

LIANA: That is a good point. What did motivate me to present that, those different scenarios? Was it just simply…

ELIAS: Concerning yourself with other individuals and their choices and moving your attention outside of you in relation to other individuals, rather than paying attention to what is actually occurring within you and what is actually affecting of you.

LIANA: One of my thoughts about this was – because you’ve talked about how we create other’s expressions – was with my attention being outside myself, did that create… I’m not really sure what I’m trying to ask, except that were all of those creations, because of my attention being outside of myself, were they all equal? If my attention would’ve been inside myself, would there have been yet another thing that had been created?

ELIAS: You may not have created these scenarios at all.

LIANA: I didn’t? What do you mean?

ELIAS: Not that you did not, but were your attention to be with you and not concerning yourself with the choices and behaviors of other individuals, you may not have created those scenarios at all. But you did, and the point is not to be speculating if I had generated this or if I had generated that, what would be the difference in the outcome? That is not the point. The point is you created what you created and you did that purposefully for a reason, to offer yourself information concerning where your attention is being directed.

LIANA: I see. Is there anything else I need to know on that, or do I pretty much get the idea at this point?

ELIAS: I express that you are understanding, and also this type of action and engagement is contributing to the scatteredness. This is the reason that I expressed to you to refocus, to pause, allow yourself a moment and refocus.

LIANA: So, for an immediate kind of a feedback thing, I was going to go for a ride with Steve to a little town, while he did business. I thought it might be a nice change of pace for my day, like a little day trip kind of thing, but then I go into opposition with myself. So is this truly…

ELIAS: In what?

LIANA: I’m asking myself if I am focusing on him or am I focusing on myself in this situation.

ELIAS: What are you focusing upon?

LIANA: I feel like I’m focusing on enjoying a ride to a little town that I haven’t been to.

ELIAS: Very well. It is unnecessary to complicate.

LIANA: Thanks, that helps. The stock market thing is basically me trusting myself to create what I want?

ELIAS: Yes, and generating an energy of cooperation within you.

LIANA: Just within me?

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: Wouldn’t you think the ant exercise would also influence my relaxation in this?

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: This has been a really helpful session. (Elias chuckles) People are responding to me differently because I’m allowing them to give me energy or I’m able to take in their energy, correct?

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: And it’s energy of friendship, correct?

ELIAS: Yes.

LIANA: Thank you so much, Elias.

ELIAS: You are very welcome, my dear friend, and I shall be anticipating our next meeting. I shall be offering my energy to you in encouragement.

LIANA: I send it back!

ELIAS: (Laughs) In tremendous appreciation to you, au revoir.

LIANA: Thank you.

(Elias departs after 35 minutes.)
