"The Imagery of Sexual Encounters in Dreams"

Saturday, February 17, 2007 (Private/Phone)

Participants: Mary (Michael) and Vanessa (Coral)

ELIAS: Good day!

VANESSA: Hi Elias! How are you?

ELIAS: (Laughs) As always. And yourself?

VANESSA: I’m very good, thank you. (Elias chuckles) Can I just say thank you very, very much for speaking to me today? I really appreciate it.

ELIAS: You are very welcome. And what shall we discuss?

VANESSA: Okay. Well, I made up a list of some questions, if that’s okay? So my first one was just asking if you could please tell me what my essence name is, and family and alignment?

ELIAS: And your impression as to the family and alignment?

VANESSA: I could not decide, myself. I had no idea at all. But while I was dreaming one night, I was told Gramada. But I don’t really understand that, because it… I don’t know. It just doesn’t really seem to be… I would appreciate it if you could explain it a little bit further.

ELIAS: (Chuckles) First of all, let me express to you that although you may belong to one family and align with another family, each individual incorporates qualities of all of the families. And in association with this dream imagery, that was not an identification of your essence family or your alignment, but rather an encouragement for you to be tapping into some of those qualities of that particular essence family of Gramada, and awakening within yourself more qualities of creativeness, inventiveness and generating somewhat more of a spontaneity.

As to essence families, belonging to Sumari, aligning…

VANESSA: I’m sorry, what was that? Which one?

ELIAS: Sumari.

VANESSA: Okay.

ELIAS: Alignment, Vold.

VANESSA: Right.

ELIAS: Essence name, CORAL (COR-al) C-O-R-A-L.

VANESSA: Thank you. Fantastic. Thank you.

ELIAS: You are welcome.

VANESSA: I’m just wondering if I should ask you to explain a little bit more perhaps about how that essence family and alignment actually kind of apply to me uniquely or on a more personal level.

ELIAS: First of all, recognize that the family that you are belonging to is expressed in qualities that would be viewed as somewhat more underlying. You can identify those qualities in certain traits or certain manners in which you perform, but they will be less overt than the qualities of the alignment family. The family that you align with in one particular focus is expressed more obviously.

In this, aligning with the family of Vold allows you a considerable sensitivity to other individuals and, if allowing yourself, can allow you a great sensitivity to yourself also. It also may be expressed in somewhat of unconventional manners in choosing directions, in a manner of speaking, within the mainstream but generating your own unique manners in which you express within the mainstream of your society, therefore allowing you to generate somewhat more of a spice.

VANESSA: (Laughs) Okay. (Elias laughs) Interesting word! Thank you very much. I appreciate that. The Vold was my original sort of thought, and then I think I moved away from that, because of the Gramada coming. Thank you.

ELIAS: (Laughs) And perhaps this may be an encouragement for you to trust your impressions. (Laughs)

VANESSA: Yes. I’m sure you’re right. Okay, my next question was would you be able to tell me anything about my intent in choosing this focus?

ELIAS: As with all other individuals in relation to the subject of intent, I would encourage you to be evaluating and discovering what your intent is. And the manner in which you accomplish this is to allow yourself to view the theme of all of your experiences throughout your focus, not merely now but throughout the entirety of your focus. If you are genuinely evaluating, you will begin to view a theme that is expressed throughout the entirety of your focus.

Now; there are many different branches or avenues that can be engaged in relation to that theme, and those branches will be more specific directions that you have engaged throughout your focus, but they will all associate with that general theme.

The reason it is important for individuals to generate this exercise themself and discover this theme or intent themselves is that when I express the identification of an individual’s intent, it lacks the meaning that it will incorporate when the individual discovers it themself. For in generating that type of exercise in that evaluation, it allows you to genuinely connect with self and to become more aware and more familiar with not merely who you are but what you do and what motivates you in many directions, which is very valuable information.

And in that, you connect more fully with yourself, for you have experienced and therefore you are drawing upon your own experiences and allowing yourself, in a manner of speaking, to tie them together, and in that, creating the mosaic that is you.

VANESSA: Okay. Thank you. When I inquired on it myself, I came up with the word closeness, and I guess I can see that that’s been a thing for me in terms of wanting to become closer to other people. And I’m feeling very much like the exact opposite has happened throughout my life, and now I’m very much to the point where I feel very, very alone. Could you give me any thoughts on that?

ELIAS: First of all, let me express to you, many times in conjunction with an individual’s intent they may be exploring certain avenues of the intent that seem surfacely to be in contradiction to their intent, for it surfacely seems that they are generating precisely what you have expressed, the opposite of the intention of the intent. But in actuality, many times moving in those directions allows the individual to explore different experiences in depth. And that allows the individual, once they engage moving in a different direction, to generate a greater understanding and a greater appreciation of their exploration.

Now; in association with your intent, I will offer a clue that you can explore.

VANESSA: Please.

ELIAS: Closeness would be one of those branches.

VANESSA: Okay.

ELIAS: The general theme would be more associated with the exploration of interaction and intimacy in interaction.

Now; that intimacy is not merely expressed in relation to other individuals but in relation to yourself also. That is a significant key. For in generating the familiarity with yourself and a genuine intimacy with self, that allows you to alter your energy and generate more openness. And when you generate more openness, you allow yourself more freedom to receive.

Receiving is a very important action and point, for receiving allows you to genuinely connect with other individuals. It allows you a freedom in which you can exchange easily.

But the key to that is becoming comfortable and satisfied within self. For if you are comfortable and if you are satisfied within self, you generate no necessity for shielding. And if you are not shielding, you generate more of an allowance for openness to share with other individuals, and in that sharing, allowing yourself to receive the energy from other individuals. Which with many individuals can be somewhat challenging, for they are unaccustomed to acknowledging and appreciating self, and there is a factor of fear.

Now; --

VANESSA: Absolutely. I feel that very strongly.

ELIAS: --the key to fear is recognizing that you are not a victim, that you actually incorporate responsibility for self, and with that responsibility comes great freedom. For if you are generating all of your reality, it is unnecessary to incorporate fear, for what can occur that you are not designing?

Now is the other factor, which is the fear of self. For once you recognize that you are creating all of your reality, then there becomes the possibility that you can become fearful of yourself in what you may create. But this is also associated with perception. Perception creates all of your reality. Therefore, in being aware of perception you can manipulate that, and you can engage choices that will reinforce your trust of yourself and your abilities rather than reinforcing the fear.

In this, it may be beneficial for you to begin with the exercises of appreciating yourself several times within your day.

VANESSA: How do I do that?

ELIAS: By genuinely incorporating a moment in which you stop and you allow yourself to focus upon some element of yourself that you genuinely appreciate, regardless of what it is. It can be a physical expression. It can be an action. It can be a quality. It matters not whether the appreciation, in your terms, is large or small. What matters, what is important, is that it is expressed.

Now; I shall express to you also, in relation to this exercise, generating a familiarity with appreciation initially may be accomplished more successfully and in more of a strength if you are actually incorporating an action in association with the appreciation. Therefore, I shall inquire of you: What do you like?

VANESSA: I do not know the answer to that question. I wish I did.

ELIAS: Very well. I shall initiate different questionings. What type of objects in your environment do you like?

VANESSA: I like plants and nature. I watch a lot of TV, but I don’t think that’s where we’re going. Oh gosh.

ELIAS: What types of foods do you like?

VANESSA: Cheese and biscuits and… Yeah. I’m more of a meal sort of person. I’m not really into chocolate or anything.

ELIAS: What type of colors do you like?

VANESSA: I like green and blue.

ELIAS: Very well. In this exercise of appreciation, I shall express to you first of all to incorporate a large bowl.

VANESSA: Okay.

ELIAS: This bowl is to be one that is aesthetically pleasing to you. Therefore, incorporate a time framework and choose carefully the bowl that you will incorporate with this exercise. And it shall be placed in an area in which you will view it frequently.

VANESSA: Okay.

ELIAS: Now; each time you generate an expression of appreciation of yourself, you shall incorporate a moment and acquire a leaf or a flower petal and place it in your bowl.

VANESSA: Okay. Did you say about this flower petal, did you say a race?

ELIAS: A leaf.

VANESSA: I’m sorry?

ELIAS: A leaf.

VANESSA: Oh! A leaf! I’m sorry.

ELIAS: Yes.

VANESSA: So first (inaudible) keeps cutting out on the phone, that’s all. (Elias laughs) Okay. Thank you.

ELIAS: Now; incorporate this exercise for the time framework of a month.

VANESSA: Okay.

ELIAS: And each day you shall be placing a leaf or a flower petal within your bowl, as a symbol and a physical representation of your appreciation. At the finish of a month, you shall gather your leaves and your flower petals from the bowl, and you shall press them into plastic.

VANESSA: Okay.

ELIAS: And therefore create a collage of your accomplishment of your appreciation.

VANESSA: That sounds very nice. I like it a lot. Thank you.

ELIAS: You are quite welcome. I shall express the suggestion to you also that you incorporate a second exercise, and that is of acknowledgement: acknowledgment of your accomplishments. And that is to be generated at least three times within each day.

It matters not what you acknowledge as an accomplishment. It can be that you are acknowledging that you accomplished noticing some element, or that you accomplished generating your appreciation exercise, or that you accomplished a particular task, or it can even be that you accomplished allowing yourself to relax successfully and engage a film, and did not engage the film with tension. But that you—

VANESSA: I’m sorry. I missed that last sentence.

ELIAS: That in engaging or watching a film, you notice that you allowed yourself to relax and enjoy the film and were not incorporating tension within your body consciousness.

VANESSA: Okay. I can do that. It could be fun.

ELIAS: These exercises will serve to familiarize you with a different type of energy. And in that, it will allow you more freedom and more ease in interacting with other individuals. For if you are more comfortable with you and if you are appreciating more yourself, you will incorporate less questioning and doubting of yourself and therefore less hesitation.

VANESSA: Okay. I think that’s all extremely helpful, actually. You’ve really nailed me. So I thank you. (Elias laughs) Thank you very much.

Unfortunately, we’ve only got probably about six minutes left or so, so if we could skip over to perhaps a different issue that I’m finding frustrating at night and during meditation and those sorts of things, in the sexual issues. I don’t know quite how to explain it, but you probably understand anyway. Do you?

ELIAS: What type of sexual issues?

VANESSA: Yeah. In that when I meditate or sometimes in my dream states, I end up incorporating sexual encounters, I guess you could call it, that end up making me feel very uncomfortable. And so I tend to feel sort of like I’m blocking myself in meditation, and I don’t really want to do that because I feel like it’s sort of holding me back from exploring that.

ELIAS: And what is generating the uncomfortableness?

VANESSA: For example, very strange, that I’ve had where I’m having sex with people that I feel are inappropriate, like my grandparents and older males and things.

ELIAS: My first suggestion to you is to relax and to stop opposing. For recognize, my friend, that many times individuals incorporate imagery of sexual encounters as a symbol of intimacy and of connectedness and interaction that they appreciate. Therefore, the imagery of sexual activity, generally speaking, is not actually literal. It is a translation of what you are generating subjectively.

And in that, your objective awareness translates the connectedness or the desire for connectedness in a manner that expresses passion. For you incorporate a tremendous passion, but in that, you do not always allow yourself to express your passion.

Passion can be expressed in many, many, many different manners, but the most obvious and the most extreme is that of sexual activity. Therefore, the objective awareness automatically focuses in that direction to translate that expression of passion that is being generated in the subjective awareness.

What is occurring with you is that you are generating the judgment in relation to the imagery, and therefore you oppose it. And the more you oppose it, the more you perpetuate it.

If you understand that this is not bad and it also is not literal, it is imagery that is more associated with intimacy, passion and interconnectedness, the imagery itself may be less disturbing to you.

And in this, recognize: another factor is the age. For the imagery of grandparents or older individuals actually is an expression of comfort. For there is an association that older individuals express more calm, more safety, more comfort and more understanding and, generally speaking, more allowance. Therefore, the imagery of the age of the other individuals is significant, for it is an expression of your comfort in allowing you an expression of safety within your passion.

VANESSA: Mm-hm. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you. Thank you very much.

ELIAS: You are quite welcome. Remember also, my friend: you pay attention to what becomes important. And if you dislike some expression, what becomes important is the dislike of it. And therefore, the more you pay attention to the dislike of some expression, the more you create it.

VANESSA: That’s exactly what’s been happening.

ELIAS: Therefore, if the subject becomes less important, such as this subject in offering yourself new information and understanding that this imagery is symbolic for other expressions, the dislike of it becomes less important, and therefore you pay less attention to it and you create it less often.

VANESSA: Okay. Thank you. That’s really good. I’m wishing that I had the hour with you now. (Both laugh) Very much, actually. Mary told me that I needed to let you know when we were out of time because she has another appointment, so I’m sorry to do that. But can I just say thank you so much.

ELIAS: You are very welcome.

VANESSA: I learned a lot. Thank you.

ELIAS: You are very welcome, my dear friend. And I invite you to engage conversation again futurely.

VANESSA: Thank you. I appreciate that.

ELIAS: I shall be expressing my energy with you, in encouragement and supportiveness. Remember your exercises. (Laughs)

VANESSA: I will. I will. I’m looking forward to it. I will go shopping tomorrow.

ELIAS: (Laughs) Very well, my friend.

VANESSA: Thank you so much.

ELIAS: In great appreciation to you and in tremendous lovingness, I anticipate our next meeting. Au revoir.

VANESSA: Thank you. Thank you. I do, too. And I wish you all the best and all the joy as well.

(Elias departs after 37 minutes)
